Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, August 8, 1991 
Billie Joyce Gainous of the 2600 block of Ballentine Blvd., a custodian, died
Aug. 5, 1991, in a hospital.

Mrs. Gainous was born in Northwest, Va., and was a member of Union United Church
of Christ, Norfolk. She had been employed with Tiffany Co. in New York.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. John Smith of New York City; a daughter,
Robin R. Smith of Jersey City, N.J.; a son, Leo M. Gainous of Seattle; four
sisters, Eula B. Walls, Dorothy Edge, Sylvia Moore and Kitty Owens, all of
Norfolk; two brothers, Wesley Moore and Lenious S. Moore, both of Norfolk; and
five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Union United Church of
Christ by the Rev. Joseph M. Copeland. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
Friends may join the family at 2700 Myrtle Ave., from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday.
Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
