Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, February 22, 2001 
Catherine E. L Gallop of the 700 block of L W. 29th St., died Feb. 18, 2001.

``Mother'' was born in Edenton, N.C., and was the widow of Fred Gallop Sr. She
was employed with the city of Norfolk School System and was a member of New
Calvary Baptist Church and the Hour of Prayer Praise Choir.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Brown of Norfolk and Deborah Joyner of
Portsmouth; a stepdaughter, Jannette Reed of Norfolk; five sons, Fred Gallop
Jr., Donald Gallop and Marvin Gallop, all of Norfolk, Russell Winfield of
Georgia and SSgt. Lloyd Gallop of Bosnia; a brother, William Burke of Edenton,
N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grand-children; and a host of other relatives
and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Friday at New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by
the Rev. Dr. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The remains
will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel,
is in charge.
