Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, February 12, 2003 
NORFOLK - Mary A. Gallop, 93, of the 900 block of E. Princess Anne Road, quietly
and peacefully passed Feb. 7, 2003. She was a native of Surry County, Va., born
to the late Benjamin and Marcella Bailey. She was predeceased by her husband,
Alvin Gallop.

She was a dedicated and faithful servant of Wesley Union AME Church. She was one
of the first black insurance carriers to service Norfolk employed by North
Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Mildred Holloman; one niece,
Beverly B. Riddick and husband Edgar Jr.; two nephews, Johnny Bailey Jr. and
wife Sandra and Joseph Bailey Jr. and wife Linda; and a host of other relatives
and friends.

A funeral will be conducted Friday at noon in Wesley Union AME Church, 708
Johnson Road, Norfolk, with the Rev. Willie L. Dixon presiding. A viewing will
be held Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service. Burial will be at
Calvary Cemetery .
