Virginian-Pilot October 24, 1955
Carrington Grigsby Galt, 55, son of the late Capt. William W. and Mary Blair 
Grigsby Galt, a native of Norfolk, died yesterday at 9:15 a.m., at Memphis, 
Tenn., where he had resided for several years.
For 15 years before he went to Memphis, he was manager of the Public Works 
Department of the United States Naval Mine Depot, Yorktown.
He is survived by one daughter, Alice Blair Galt, of Waynesboro; two sisters, 
Mrs. Dean H. Vance, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Alfred G. Zimmerman, of Washington, and 
one brother, Col. William R. Galt, of Tallahassee, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Wednesday 
at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Norman T. Slater, rector of the Episcopal Church of the 
Good Shepherd, Meadowbrook. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
