Obituary, Virginian-Pilot, June 3, 1994
Nancy Godwin Galvin, 84, a retired schoolteacher, formerly of N. Blake Road, 
Norfolk, died June 2, 1994, in Newport News. Mrs. Galvin was born in Norfolk 
and was the widow of John B. Galvin Jr. She was a graduate of Longwood College 
and had retired from the Norfolk School System at Coleman Place Elementary 
School. She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Survivors 
include two sons, James M. Galvin of Williamsburg and John B. Galvin III of 
Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Emily G. Hawkins of Norfolk; four grandchildren, 
Chantell Miller, Susan Galvin, John F. Galvin and Debbie Galvin; and three 
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Godwin and 
two brothers, William Edmond Godwin and Bentley C. Godwin. A graveside service 
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Richard 
O. Bridgeford. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is 
handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to 
the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany.
