The obsequies of Mr. John Galvin, whose death has been noted in these columns, 
were solemnized from St. Mary’s Catholic church at 10 o’clock yesterday morning in 
the presence of a large concourse of the friends of the deceased. Requiem mass for 
the dead was said by Rev. Father John Doherty, pastor of the church, who paid a 
beautiful tribute to the life and character of the deceased. There was a beautiful 
display of floral tributes. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery. 
Following were the pallbearers: Messrs. James O’Rourke, John R. Coleman, James 
Corbett, John Carty, Michael Cashin, John F. Lawler, John H. Butt and John 
Corbett.
