GALVIN RETIRED NORFOLK POLICEMAN, DIES NORFOLK - James A. Galvin, 61, retired Norfolk policeman, died Monday at 6 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was a son of James E. and Annie Burford Galvin. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of the Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kathryn Hancock Galvin; four daughters, Mrs. H.S. Ashley, Mrs. Joseph P. Todd and Mrs. Kenneth B. Adams of Norfolk and Mrs. H.J. Geraty of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, John J. Galvin of Norfolk, Eugene A. Galvin, USMC, and James A. Galvin, USAF; two brothers, John A. Galvin of Norfolk and Joseph F. Galvin of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mrs. Vincent P. Bell of Norfolk and 16 grandchildren. The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. ***************************************************************** NORFOLK — The body of James A. Galvin, who died Monday in a Norfolk hospital, will be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Mary's Catholic Church for a funeral service today at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
