NORFOLK — Mrs. Josephine Picone Gambardella, 76, of 4708 Newport Ave., the widow 
of Matteo Gambardella and a daughter of Joseph and Mrs. Rose Picone, died in a 
hospital Sunday afternoon.
A native of Italy, she lived here most of her life. She was a member of Blessed 
Sacrament Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Louise Storino of Richmond and Mrs. 
Rose Gloria Cogliandro of Norfolk; four sons, Danny Gambardella of San Diego, 
Calif., Joseph L. Gambardella, Herbert A. Gambardella, and Matteo Gambardella Jr. 
of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Geraldine Guerrieri, and a brother, Vincent Picone, 
both of Norfolk; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be said in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, tonight at 
7:30.
A funeral service will be conducted in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Newport 
Avenue, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions 
to the Heart Fund. They will be at 2515 Jasper Court, Norfolk.
