Peggy P. Gambardella, 76, passed away May 28, 2023. A native of Portland, Maine, 
she was the daughter of the late Dean T. and Peggy W. Patty. She was also 
predeceased by her brother, Robert Patty and half-sister, Helen Brasco Bateson.
Peggy was a graduate of Norview HS and Ferrum College. After graduation, she 
worked at the US Customs and Naval Supply Center at the Norfolk NOB where she 
met her future mother-in-law and best friend, the late Marjorie Felton 
Gambardella. She was also part-owner of several local video stores in the 
Tidewater area.
An avid reader and lover of music of many genres, Peggy was a member of St. 
Gregory the Great Catholic Church, where was a member of the choir, which once 
sang at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II, and the Oblates of St. Benedict, of 
which was a former president. Until recently she also enjoyed the company of her 
friends in the Red Hat “Mammas” culinary society.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ronnie, her beloved son, 
David, her half-sisters Carol, Peggy and Jacqui Bateson, Angela Gambardella, 
niece, and Lawrence D. Patty, nephew. She is also survived by her many friends 
and extended family members whom she loved dearly and for whom became the 
unofficial family historian.
God Bless you Peggy. She will be missed by many. A graveside service will be 
conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday June 9, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in 
Norfolk. There will be a reception following the service at 1535 Holland Avenue 
Norfolk.
