Gammal passed away peacefully at home on Thanksgiving Day in the presence of her loving family as one of her all time favorite movies, 'Miracle on 34th St.' played quietly in the background. She fought a relentless seven month battle against the Pancreatic cancer that finally proved too much even for her to overcome. She came into this world a fighter and a strong spirit and remained that way all her life. She overcame a previous bout with colon cancer and the overwhelming loss of her daughter Jordan who preceded her in death. She was a faithful servant to God her entire life, her faith was strong and unshaken up to the very end. A loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife and an adoring mother to her pride and joy her son Gabriel. She was a loyal friend to many and also became an inspiration to many who were touched by all she endured with never a complaint. She was a voracious reader, gourmet cook, and a classy woman who made most anything she wore look good. She also had a mind like a steel trap. Her memory, breadth, and depth of knowledge was remarkable. Ranzy loved to travel and did so extensively with many stops throughout North America, Central America, Europe, China and Africa. She packed a lifetime of living into her 59 years and she possessed a wonderful sense of humor. She was always generous in her charity to others less fortunate. Born in Berkeley, CA she lived her 'Wonder Years' in Florence, KY and St. Petersburg, FL before finally settling in the Hampton Roads area. She was employed by Keane Inc. as a project manager working with the City of Virginia Beach Com/IT department on the regional emergency communications system digital upgrade and also lead other city and regional projects. She previously held project management and IS management positions with Ferguson Enterprises, Lucas Industries, Amerigroup, WF of R Media Services, Inc., and The Henry Walke Co. She was an active member, current officer and previously served as president of the Hampton Roads chapter of Project Management Institute. Ranzy is survived her husband of 31 years, Geoff Davis of Norfolk; son Gabriel Davis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and brother Nick Gammal and his wife Carol of St. Petersburg, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Nicholas D. Gammal Jr. and Margaret Margie Kloentrup Gammal of St. Petersburg, FL. A Mass of the Resurrection will celebrated at 10:00 a.m on Wednesday, Nov. 30th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1396 Lynnhaven Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23453. A reception will follow at the church. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, 1501 Colonial Ave. Norfolk, VA 23517 on Tuesday, Nov. 29th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
