February 2024 Glenda Temm Gant, 74, died peacefully on February 1, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born at DePaul Hospital on August 24, 1949, she was the eldest child of the late Bertha Smith Temm and John Harry Temm, Sr. Glenda grew up in Ocean View and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and Norfolk Catholic High School and graduated in the celebrated Class of 1967. Glenda became a Navy spouse in 1969 and eventually a proud member of the Seal Team family. A legal secretary for over four decades, Glenda was a dedicated professional with a few law firms in Downtown Norfolk. Like her mother, Glenda was an early and chipper riser who relished her morning coffee and the daily news. Blessed with an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor, Glenda enjoyed endless hours with her family, the shared breaking of bread, savoring wine, and family vacations. Glenda had many friends, some for all of her life, and she will undoubtedly be remembered for being kind, quick-witted, principled and virtuous. And who could forget her amazingly delicious deviled eggs? She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Gant-Brush (Jason) and Amanda “Drew” Gant (Shawn), both of Norfolk; four grandsons, Leo and Wyatt Brush, and Liam and Scout McKenzie; a sister, Alice Vahey (William “Chip”); a brother John Temm, Jr; and a host of cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Doris Brignola. A funeral Mass will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 28 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic, followed by a graveside service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, both in Norfolk. The family will receive guests Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at HD Oliver Funeral Apts., on Colonial Avenue. Online condolences may be offered at hdoliver.com.
