JEFFERSON GANTT will be very deeply grieved to hear of his death, which occurred Thursday night, August 18th, at the home of his sister, No. 67 Wood street, Norfolk. Va. Mr. Gantt was the second son of the late Captain Albert Weems Gantt and Mary E. Jefferson Gantt. He was a great grand-nephew of Thomas Jefferson, of Monticello, Va., and was connected with some of the most prominent families of Maryland and Virginia. Mr. Gantt leaves a wife, who was Miss Bell Thompson, of Ilchester, Howard county, Md., and two children, and also two sisters, who are Mrs. Robert Durrette, of Albemarle county, Va., and Miss Bessie Jefferson Gantt, of Norfolk, Va. To his family, we extend our deepest sympathies. The funeral of T. Jefferson Gantt was solemnized from the Sacred Heart Catholic church Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, the pastor, Rev. Father R. A. Drake, officiating. The interment was in St. Mary's cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: J. S. Marable, Henry Ludy, William Frizzell, William Munday, Henry Hyslop, J. D. Duffy, Edward Albright and Jonathan Martin.
