Garcia, 27, AUS, died Friday at 11:45 p.m. in the Letterman Hospital, San Francisco, Calif., after an illness of several months. Garcia, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Garcia, Second Street, Ocean View, had served with the Army on Guadalcanal previous to his illness. He volunteered for the Army before America's entry into the war and was at Hickman Field when the Japanese attacked it and Pearl Harbor. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Gelardi and Mrs. Anne DeAngelo, of Norfolk; three brothers, all in the service, Manuel Garcia, Jr., USN, San Diego, Calif., First Sergt. Domenick Garcia, AUS, Elkins, W. Va. and Edward Garcia, Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill.; two nieces and four nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. ******************************************************************************* PETER J. GARCIA -Solemn high requiem mass for Mr. Garcia, who died at San Francisco, Calif., was celebrated at 11 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert B. Kealey, celebrant of the mass, the Rev. F.V. Bambrick, as deacon, the Rev. E.C. Kiefer, sub-deacon, and the Rev. A.J. Taylor, master of ceremonies. The casket was covered with an American flag. During the service several selections were rendered by the choir of St. Mary's Academy, with Mrs. Joseph Lex as organist. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors. A volley was fired by a firing squad and a bugler sounded taps at the grave.
