She was born in Roanoke. Though many years were spent in the Norfolk and Northern Virginia areas, she has resided in Williamsburg for the last 27 years. She was a longtime member of St. Bede Catholic Church. She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Walter Gard of Williamsburg. Survivors also include six daughters and one son: Mary Ratliff and her husband, Ron, of Virginia Beach, Judy Mecham and her husband, Stan, of Williamsburg, Audrey Fillion and her husband, Glen, of Lewiston, Maine, Kimberly Masowich and her husband, Andrew, of Williamsburg, Barbara Moore of Williamsburg, Susan Smith and her husband, Gary, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Walter Gard and his fiancée, Amy. Also, 13 grandchildren: Blair Cahoon, Jennifer Fillion, Mathew Fillion, Cameron Fillion, Tracie Clemmer and her husband, John, Travis Chin and his wife, Carrie, Tyler Masowich, Courtney Kreicar and her husband, Ben, Chauntey Ferrell and her husband, Brandon, Roger Moore, and Sierra Gard, Scarlett and Sarah; and eight great-grandchildren: Cayden, Carter, Maddox, Kensley, Jaxon, Andre', Brandon and Bennett. She was a wonderful wife and partner for 60+ years. She was a devoted, loving mother who was always there for her children. She taught us to love, laugh and let our spirits soar. A Mass will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church on Thursday, July 25, at 9 a.m. A private family service will be held at gravesite following the Mass.
