Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch October 12, 1921
Charles M. Gardiner, formerly of Norfolk, died at the home of his sister, Miss 
Jennie Gardiner, in Baltimore, Monday, aged fifty-five years. The remains arrived 
here this morning and the funeral took place this afternoon at V. H. Smith's 
funeral apartments, Rev. D. W. Howard, D.D., and Rev. E. P. Miner, officiating. 
The burial was in Elmwood. There were many floral offerings. Mr. Gardiner is 
survived by two children, Albert W. Gardiner, of New York, and Miss Dolly 
Gardiner, of Norfolk.
