Roby, at Lambert’s Point, had been carried to St. Vincent’s Hospital in a helpless condition, having been injured by diving in shallow water at the Lambert’s Point breakwater. It was learded today that the unfortunate young man died the same day at 9 o’clock in the morning, and was buried in the Seamen’s lot in Elmwood Cemetery, at 6 o’clock in the afternoon, Rev. J.B. Merritt officiating. The effects of the deceased are now in the hand of Shipping Commissioner A.M. Bullock, and from a Bible and Letters among them it is learned that his name was Criss E. Gardner, and his native place Derry, Rockingham County, N.H. He is said to have been 25 or 30 years of age, without family, but has relatives living.
