Garland of 733 C Avenue died recently in his home. A native of Danville, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Lucille Garland and a son of the late John H. and Mrs. Catherine Fuller Garland. He was a retired Post Office letter carrier. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, American Legion Post 5, Bachelor-Benedict Social Club and Eureka Lodge. He was an Army Sergeant in World War 1. He was survived by two cousins, Alonzo Scott of Norfolk and Mrs. Jessie West of Philadelphia. A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Harold Gregory. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with B. F. King Funeral Home in charge.
