He was 72 years old. A lifelong resident of this city, he made his home with his wife at 702 Redgate Avenue. After attending Norfolk Academy, Episcopal High School and the University of Virginia, he followed his father, a judge, in the practice of law. In 1899, he joined the firm of Garnett and Garnett, and later was associated with Morris, Garnett and Cotton, with Hicks, Morris, Garnett and Tunstall and with Garnett, Taylor and Edwards. He served as vice president and trust officer of the Guaranty Title and Trust Corporation and later as receiver. After liquidation of the company, he was associated with Albert M. Edwards and maintained law offices at the Citizens Bank Building. Active Churchman Long active in religious services, he served both as junior and senior warden in the vestry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, of which he was a member when he died. In addition, he was on the board of trustees of the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary and of the Protestant Episcopal High School. His busy civic life saw him active in many fields. He was largely instrumental in organizing the Seashore State Park some years ago and handled all legal aspects of the project. Displaying an early interest in all types of sports, he was at one time chairman of the City Recreation Commission. He was particularly fond of baseball, having been a star first baseman with the University of Virginia team. A top golfer in his day, he coveted his membership in the Hole-in-One Club. Civil War Authority Fishing and hunting were also favorite pastimes with Mr. Garnett, but his real hobby was Civil War history, on which he was recognized as an authority. An active member of the Kiwanis Club for many years, he once served as club president. He was secretary-treasurer of the Mary Ludlow Home; treasurer of the Boush-Plume Corporation, and a former member of the board of trustees of the Norfolk Public Library. At the University of Virginia, he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon social fraternity. In 1901, he was married to Miss Eleanor Colville Randolph, who survives. Her father, Bishop Alfred Magill Randolph, of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia, performed the marriage ceremony. He was the son of the late Judge Theodore Stanford Garnett, Jr., and Mrs. Emily Eyre Baker Garnett. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Theodore Stanford Garnett, IV, of Norfolk, and Dr. Alfred Randolph Garnett, of New York City; one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Randolph Garnett Ruffin, of Norfolk; and a nephew, William E.
