Virginian Pilot February 1, 1907

Mrs. Florentina I. Garnett, mother of Judge Theodore S. Garnett, of this city, 
died at the home of her daughter, Miss Ella I. Garnett, Washington, D.C., at 
8:35 o'clock Wednesday night. The deceased was in the 85th year of her age and 
the immediate cause of her death is attributed to the infirmities of old age. 
She was a resident of Norfolk up to about twenty years ago, when she made her 
home in Washington. Besides Judge Garnett she leaves another son, Prof. James M. 
Garnett, of Baltimore, Md.
Her remains will arrive in Norfolk this morning on the steamer from Washington 
and her funeral will be held from St. Luke's Episcopal Church at noon today.

The remains of the late Mrs. Florentina I. Garnett, mother of Judge Theo. S. 
Garnett, of Norfolk, arrived in the city yesterday morning from Washington, 
D.C., accompanied by George Garnett and other relatives. The funeral was 
solemnized from St. Luke's Episcopal Church at noon yesterday and was numerously 
attended. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. W.A. Barr assisted by Rev. E.P. 
Miner.
The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery and the pallbearers were as 
follows: Captain Wm. E. Taylor, W.W. Chamberlaine, Captain B.P. Loyall, Captain 
William C. Whittle, J.J. Burroughs, Colonel Walter H. Taylor, Edward R. Baird 
Jr. and J. Westmore Wilcox.
