He was educated in the Norfolk schools, attended the University of Virginia, and was a member of Delta Phi Fraternity. He served with the 30th Division in World War II and won a battlefield commission in Germany as an artillery observer. He was a member of the American Legion, and the Elks and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Chattanooga. Besides his widow, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. John N. Williams of Norfolk; a brother, Joshua Garrison of Washington; and two nephews, Glen Garrison of New York and Dalrymple Garrison of Washington, and four nieces, Miss Duanne Garrison and Miss Genie Garrison of New York, Mrs. T.M. Graham of Norfolk and Mrs. J.J. Burton of Atlanta. A funeral service was held in Chattanooga Saturday. The body will be taken from H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Elmwood Cemetery for a funeral service Monday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Peyton R. Williams, rector of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to the Book of Remembrance, Grace Episcopal Church, Chattanooga.
