Mr. Garvin was a native of Ft. Benning, Georgia and longtime resident of Norfolk. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk where he served as an Usher/Greeter for almost thirty years. Mr. Garvin retired from the United States Air Force as a Major. He also retired from the Lake Wright Hotel where he worked as a night auditor. He was a past member of the Swedish Club. Mr. Garvin is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Audrey Diane Garvin of Norfolk; his parents Major General Crump Garvin and Ollie Garvin and his brothers Tommy Garvin and Major. Ford Garvin. Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Adelaide Jackson of Norfolk, VA; three sons, Christopher David Garvin of Boise, Idaho, Michael Tully Garvin of Norfolk and Jonathan Crump Garvin of Everett, Washington; his sister, Kikki Hanley of Asheville, NC, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to especially thank Ana Santana and the staff of excellent care for providing a comfortable and caring environment for Mr. Garvin as well as Dr. Robert M. Camp of Norfolk, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church presided by Rev. James F. Kauffmann. Burial will be private. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m on Thursday evening followed by a visitation until 9:00 PM in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Online condolences may be offered to the family through hdoliver.com.
