Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch May 14, 1917
Walter Bruce Gaskins, 55 years old, died at his residence, 512 Olney Road, at 
11:20 o'clock yesterday morning, after a short illness. He was born in Virginia 
and had lived in Norfolk 20 years. He is survived by a widow; one son, Vernon 
Grant Gaskins; one sister, Mrs. Mittie Long, wife of Dr. W. S. Long of Chapel 
Hill, N.C.; and one brother, Charles Gaskins of Philadelphia. The funeral will 
take place at the residence at noon tomorrow. Services will be conducted by Rev. 
S. N. Hutchison. Burial will be private, in Elmwood cemetery.
