Virginian-Pilot March 17, 1913
Samuel J. Gatewood died at his residence, Thirty-seventh street, Lambert's Point, 
at 9:40 Saturday night, after an illness of two years, in the forty-second year of 
his age. He is survived by a widow, one son and one daughter. The funeral will be 
held at Burrows Memorial Baptist church at 3 o'clock this afternoon and will be 
conducted by Rev. George W. Cox. Lambert's Point Lodge, No. 99, I.O.O.F., of which 
he was a member, will attend the obsequies. The interment will be in Elmwood 
cemetery.
