Donna McGowan Gatling, 61, died May 24, 2018 in her residence. She was a native of 
Norfolk, Virginia and a resident of Hampton Roads for all of her life. She was the 
daughter of the late John F. McGowan and Mary Thatch McGowan and was preceded in 
death by her brother, Edward J. McGowan.
Donna was a Roman Catholic and graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School and was 
the co-owner of Allsafe Self Storage.
Survivors include her sons; David Wesley Gatling, Jr. and Kiel J. Gatling both of 
Virginia Beach, her sister, Kathleen A. McGowan of Norfolk and her brothers, John 
F. McGowan, Jr. of Chesapeake, Michael J. McGowan of Norfolk and Patrick A. 
McGowan of Chesapeake and a loving friend Charles Floyd.
A Chapel service will be conducted in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apts., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic 
Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home, Tuesday from 7:00 
PM to 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society
