Miss Gatling, a native of New Jersey, taught music to elementary schoolchildren in Norfolk for more than 40 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk. She was a graduate of Harrisonburg State Teachers College. Survivors include a sister, Hortense Farnham of New Haven, Conn.; a half-sister, Estele G. Potts of Bridgewater, N.J.; and three half-brothers, William Gatling and J. Edward Gatling, both of Norfolk, and Myrlon L. Gatling of Littleton, Colo. The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. John Dorgan. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 6 p.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk.
