Rebecca D.E. Gatling, 94, was called to glory and eternal rest on March 1, 2003 
at Norfolk Health Care Center. She will be deeply missed especially by those who 
were blessed by knowing her. 
She was preceded in death by her mother, Katie S. Gatling and father, John 
Henry. Those with the greatest pain are those left behind holding her memories, 
two nieces, Janie Morris Benson (special daughter) and Doris Snowden; one 
nephew, William Baker; one great-niece, Pamela Parker; four great-nephews, 
Robert E. (Patricia) Benson, Darnell Benson, Gregory L. (Avanti) Benson and Paul 
W. Benson; two great-great-nieces, Vanessa and Thomasine Benson; a special 
great-great-nephew, Christopher (Tredena) Benson; and a host of other relatives 
and friends. 
Family will receive friends at 1151 Georgetown Road, Apt. 101, Norfolk. A Wake 
will be held today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Second Calvary Baptist Church, 2940 
Corprew Ave., Norfolk. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. The interment 
will conclude at Calvary Cemetery. Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 
Victoria Blvd., Hampton, is serving the Benson family, 728-0122.
