Norfolk Virginian Pilot Sunday October 3, 1943
Maurice Monell Gay, 36, died at his residence, 501 South Main street, Berkley, 
yesterday morning at 10 o'clock after an illness of three months.  He was a 
native of South Norfolk and had lived in this section all his life.  He was the 
son of Elsie Monel Gay and the late Maurice Ashland Gay.  Besides his mother, he 
is survived by his wife, Louise Carlon Gay; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. 
Georganna Monell, of South Norfolk; one brother, Francis A Gay, of South Norfolk 
and several aunts and uncles.  Mr. Gay was a member of the South Norfolk 
Congregational-Christian Church.
The body was removed to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, Ohio and Rogers 
streets, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted Monday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock.  Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
