The City Coroner, Dr. E.V. Newton, was notified but deemed as inquest unnecessary, as death had been from natural causes. The remains were taken charge of by the members of Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O. Elks, Mr. Gayton having been a member of Philadelphia Lodge. The remains will be interred here and the Elks are called for 3 o’clock to pay the last sad tribute of respect. The Norfolk Landmark, Sun., Tues, July 15, 1890. The funeral of Mr. Frank M. Gayton, whose sudden death has been announced, took place yesterday afternoon from St. Luke’s P.E. Church, and was numerously attended. Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O. Elks, being present with full ranks. The funeral services at the church and at the grave were conducted by Rev. A.S. Lloyd, rector, and the remains were followed to the ground by a large concourse. The interment was in the Elks lot, in Elmwood Cemetery, and after the church services the solemn ritual of the Elks for the dead was conducted by Exalter Ruler T.L. Drummond, of Norfolk Lodge. The following gentlemen were the pall-bearers: B.P.O. Elks-Norfolk Lodge: Messrs. B. McNally and E.J. Creamer. Portsmouth Lodge-Messrs. Bernard Stealand, James L. Young. Citizens-Messrs. Julian A. Smith, John W. Whalen, D.G.R. Jarman and John Mack.
