Gerloff, Sr., 84, son of Charles Ferdinand and Mrs. Susan Landers Gerloff, died Sunday at 9:05 p.m. at a Norfolk hospital. He was a native of Galveston, Tex., and a resident of Norfolk for 45 years, residing at 1415 Ashland Circle at the time of his death. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Maccabees. For many years he was engaged in the brazing and welding business. Surviving him are three sons, Silvester (sic) Gerloff, Jr., and Edgar Gerloff, of Norfolk; three daughters, Mrs. Leon V. Gilbert, Mrs. Matthew Walsh, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Orman B. Overton, of Richmond; three brothers, J. H. Gerloff, of Hollywood, Calif.; Ernest Gerloff, of Dallas, Tex., and Emile Gerloff, of Galveston; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Mary's Catholic Church for services this morning at 10 o’clock. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services were held at the Oliver Funeral Apartments last night.
