H. Henley, 421 Queen street, yesterday morning died little Paul Gerone, whose earthly career lasted but a few short months and who, while he lived, had very little prospect of ever knowing who his father and mother were. One day in July, when the rays of the summer sun were scorching everything and all the energy of the whole animal world had vanished before the intense heat, Mrs. Daley, of Norfolk county, as she sat quietly in her home trying to avoid the intense heat of the sun, heard a feeble wail at the front of the house. She went to see what made the noise and there she found a little baby, who smiled up at her between his sobs. She carried the little fellow, who was but a few months old, into the house and fed, bathed and clothed him. The next day she brought him to market when she came in with some produce and the child was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Henley. It had a good home at last, but the little boy had been so exposed that he never really rallied from the shock to his physique. His foster parents gave him the name of Paul Gerone for the want of a way to discover his real name. Yesterday morning little Paul gave up the brave struggle he had made to keep his soul within his diminutive body and he passed away. He will be buried in Elmwood cemetery this afternoon.
