Mrs. Gholson was born in Norfolk. She was a retired housekeeper with the U.S. government. She was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk, the Missionary Circle, Hospitality Committee, Senior Citizen Club and the Senior Choir. She was a member of the NAACP, Broad Creek Civic League, the Salvation Army and Eastern Star St. Thomas (NU)51. She was a Norfolk State Senior Citizen Chaplain and was the widow of Ulysses Gholson. Survivors include a son, James L. Wills III; her mother, Corine Stith; three sisters, Areatha Langly, Mahala Butler and Celestine Stith; and two grandchildren, James L. Wills IV, and Rochelle A. Wills, all of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Gilbert Campbell Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church building fund. The funeral procession will leave the residence at 1:15 p.m. for the church services. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
