Gibbs Victim Of A Sudden Attack Charles Brock Gibbs, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at the home of his wife's sister, Mrs. B.B. Bott, 313 Berkley Avenue, as the result of a third stroke of paralysis. He was 49 years old. Mr. Gibbs was stricken more than a year ago and while he had improved and was able to get around to a limited degree, he had not been able to give attention to business. Until the time of his first attack, Mr. Gibbs was one of the most active men of the community. He conducted a hardware business, was steward and treasurer of Memorial Methodist Church, superintendent of the Twelfth Street Mission, a branch of Memorial Methodist Church, was a member of the moral uplife work of the community, member of the anti-saloon league from his church. He was director of the Atlantic Permanent Building and Loan Association and the People's Bank and Trust Company and associated with several other business institutions. He was the son of the late Charles and Mary E. Gibbs, who died a few months ago. He was born in Norfolk, but moved to Berkley with his people many hears ago where he had lived since. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Warner Gibbs, one son, Charles Warner Gibbs, a sister, Mrs. W.B. Dougherty and two brothers, John M. Gibbs, manager of the Fosburgh Lumber Company, Hollister, N.C. and Wallace E. Gibbs of this city. The body will be taken from his residence in Arlington Avenue to Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, Berkley, tomorrow afternoon from which the funeral will be conducted at 3:45 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. S.J. Nattin. The burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. ******************************************************************* GIBBS - Suddenly at the home of his wife's sister, Mrs. B.B. Bott, 313 Berkley Avenue, Friday afternoon, November 26, 1920, at 2:45 o'clock, CHARLES BROCK GIBBS, son of the late Charles and Mrs. Mary E. Gibbs, of Norfolk proper, aged 49 years and 24 days. The funeral will be conducted in Memorial Methodist Church TOMORROW (Sunday) AFTERNOON at 3:45 o'clock and burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends of the family are invited.
