Washington, D.C., yesterday morning at 9:30 o;clock following a brief illness. He formerly lived in Norfolk, where he was associated with the lumber industry for a number of years. More recently he had been in government service and at the time of his death was connected with the statistical department of American University, Washington. He was a member of the Metropolitan Methodist Church, Washington, and for many years was a member of the choir of that church. He was a son of the late Charles and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brock Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs is survived by his wife, the former Lillian M. Rockefeller, of Washington; a daughter, Miss Shirley Gibbs, New York City, and a brother, Wallace E. Gibbs, Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hines Funeral Home, Washington, this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Remains will be brought to Norfolk and will be taken to the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover Avenue, corner Manteo Street. Funeral services in Norfolk will be conducted at the grave in Magnolia Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. W. Carroll Freeman, pastor of Memorial Methodist Church, and the Rev. Beecher L. Rhodes, pastor of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate.
