Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark September 29, 1920

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gibbs, aged 71 years, widow of Charles Gibbs, died 
yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W.B. 
Dougherty, 616 Raleigh avenue, after an illness of four months.
Mrs. Gibbs was a native of Portsmouth and had been a lifelong resident of 
this section.
She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church and was one of its active 
members.
She is survived by the following children, Mrs. W.B. Dougherty, C.B. Gibbs, 
John M. Gibbs and Wallace E. Gibbs.
Mrs. Gibbs recently went to Norfolk proper with her daughter to live.
The funeral will be conducted in Memorial Methodist Church this afternoon at 
4 o'clock, by Rev. S.J. Battin, and burial will be in the family lot in 
Magnolia Cemetery.
