Gibbs, Former Resident Of Norfolk, Dies Miss Lillian Shirley Gibbs, former Norfolk resident, died Wednesday afternoon at her residence in New York. (524 East 20th Street), after a short illness. She was secretary to the president of the American Petrolum Institute of New York. A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of Mrs. Lillian R. Gibbs and the late John M. Gibbs, who died eight years ago. She had been away from the city about 20 years. Her mother lived with her. She was a graduate of Smith College, Northampton, Mass. and of the old Norfolk Tutoring School, on Baldwin Place, formerly operated by Misses L. Minnerva Turnbull and Sarah Graham, who now maintain separate schools. Besides her mother, surviving are numerous cousins, who reside in Norfolk. The body will be brought to Norfolk and taken to the Cox Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the grave in Magnolia Cemetery by the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., pastor emeritus of Freemason Street Baptist Church.
