CHESAPEAKE - Frederick Anthony Gibney, 83, of 232 Hall Dr., the husband of Mrs. 
Bessie Alethia Stevens Gibney, died Saturday in a hospital.
He was a native of New York. He had retired from the Army Corps of Engineers as 
an electrician and was a charter member of the Great Bridge Volunteer Fire 
Department and of American Legion Post 280. He also was a Navy veteran of World 
War II.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Louise Bates of Florida, Mrs. 
Alethia Crutchlow of Seaford, and Mrs. Olive Browning of Virginia Beach; and 
eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great 
Bridge. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral 
home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
