Gibson, pastor emeritus of Broadus Memorial Church, which he served 35 years, died at 1:10 p.m. today at her home here. She is survived by a son, Charles Rockafeller Gibson, of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Gibbs, of New York City; a niece, Miss Shirley Gibbs of New York, and two grandsons, the Rev. Charles W. Gibson and John E. Gibson, both of Richmond. Mrs. Gibson was a native of Baltimore; a graduate of Ryland Institute, Norfolk, and was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Frances Fritter Rockafeller, of Norfolk. She was a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church for 40 years; a teacher in the Sunday School for 38 years; was past president of the Woman's Missionary Union of the church; chairman of the R.E. Chambers Missionary Circle, and served on the baptismal committee, the interracial committee and the flower committee of the church for many years. Mrs. Gibson was a former member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, Norfolk. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Billups Funeral Home, here, with Dr. Solon B. Cousins, instructor in Bible at the University of Virginia, and the Rev. Horace Ford, pastor of Broadnus Memorial Church, officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk.
