PETERSBURG - Joseph C. Giersch, 85, formerly of Norfolk, died in a hospital Friday 
at 7:30 pm.
He was a native of Hoboken, NJ.
He was a son of Joseph and Mrs. Martha Mueller Gierschevski.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk. He was a World War I 
veteran.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Frances Voelker, and two brothers, George H. 
Giersch and Paul A. Giersch, all of New York City.
The Rosary will be said in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, Sunday at 
7:30 p.m.
A requiem Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Monday at 9 a.m. 
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk.

Additional Comments:
He was known by a shorter version of his last name, Giersch, as were his brothers.
