NORFOLK — Leon Virginius Gilbert, 75, of 7470 Pennington Road, the husband of Mrs. 
Maude Gerloff Gilbert, died in a hospital Saturday evening. He was a native of 
Norfolk. He was a member of Charity Pythian Lodge 10 and Christ the King Catholic 
Church. He was the son of George W. and Mrs. Martha Saunders Gilbert. Besides his 
widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peyton Cason of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, 
Leon Gilbert Jr. of Washington and John R. Gilbert of North Hollywood, Calif.; 11 
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The Office of the Dead was said in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Sunday evening. 
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Christ the King Catholic Church today at 10 
a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
