Gilbert, a prominent citizen of South Norfolk died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Williams, Twenty second street, Sunday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock after a lingering illness. Mr. Gilbert had been practically an invalid for the past four years. Mr. Gilbert had held several offices in the county, of which were supervisor, ?ealer of weights and measures, and overseer of the poor. He leaves two children, Mrs. C. E. Williams of South Norfolk and George W. Gilbert, Jr. of Norfolk, and a sister, Mrs. J. H. White of South Norfolk. Funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon and interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
