Dying Praying for Mother
Richmond, Va. March 19-Praying for the welfare of his aged mother, in Norfolk, wh
who had spent her all, even to the extent of mortgaging her household effects, in
in an effort to save his life, Benjamin Gilbert, aged nineteen years, was put to de
death in the electric chair at the penitentiary here today for the brutal and co
cowardly murder of Miss Amanda Morse, who rejected his love. 
He was the first white man electrocuted in VA.
