The Virginian Pilot May 30, 1976
NORFOLK - John Randolph Gilchrist, 77, of 1142 Manchester Ave., died Saturday 
in a hospital.
A native of Arbyle, N.Y., he retired in 1962 as a chemist with Union Carbide 
after 30 years.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk.
Survivors include two sons, Homer Reid Gilchrist of Phoenix, Ariz., and Robert 
Skeels Gilchrist of Sandusky, Ohio; a sister, Miss Dorothy Gilchrist of 
Norfolk; a brother, William NacNeil Gilchrist of Beaufort, N.C.; and five 
grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery by Dr. 
Andrew R. Bird Jr. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, has 
charge.  The family suggests memorial donations to Childrens  Hospital of the 
Kings Daughters.
