Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 13, 1945

John William Giles, 83, husband of Mrs. Hattie Flora Giles and son of the 
late John and Mrs. Zilphia Owens Giles, died yesterday at the family 
residence, Sewells Point Road and Albert Avenue, Coronado.
A native of Washington, N.C., he had been a resident of Norfolk since early 
boyhood. He was a refrigeration engineer for 45 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, John B. Giles, and a 
granddaughter, Erma Gene Giles of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Gregory Funeral 
Home by the Rev. Moultrie Guerry, pastor of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. 
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
