Frank Gill, president of the James G. Gill Company, died yesterday morning at 8:30 o'clock in a local hospital. He would have been 53 years old today and had been in ill health for the past six months. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at noon at his residence, 1555 Blandford circle, by the Rev. J. L. MacMillan, D.D., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Gill was an outstanding resident of Norfolk. He took an active interest in many of the undertakings for the improvement of the city and was identified closely with the social life here. He became executive manager of the James G. Gill Company, coffee roasters and packers, in 1921, shortly after the death of his father, who founded the business. He entered the business after graduating from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, for which he prepared at the Norfolk Academy. Mr. Gill was a member of the Norfolk Association of Commerce, the Virginia Club (of which he was a former director) and the Princess Anne Club, and a former member of the Norfolk Kiwanis Club and of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. He was an active member of Lodge No. 89, A.F. & A.M., and of the First Presbyterian Church. For two years after 1934, when he first became ill, Mr. Gill traveled extensively in the West Indies and South America. He was the son of the late James G. and Mrs. Johanna Boehringer Gill. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Blanche Batchelder Gill; his stepmother, Mrs. Katherine B. Gill; two sisters, Mrs. S. R. Brockenbrough, of Suffolk, and Miss Johanna Gill, of Norfolk, and two nephews, Sam and James Gill Brockenbrough, of Suffolk.
