Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch, 8-9-1911
The funeral of Sister Matilda Gillam, one of the sisters of charity at St. 
Vincent's Hospital, occurred at 9 am today in the hospital chapel, and was 
largely attended. There was requiem mass, with the following priests 
officiating: Celebrant, Rev. R A Drake, Deacon, Rev J A Kelliher. Sub-deacon, 
Rev F J Lucke, Master of Ceremonies, Rev Wm D Delaney. The following clergy 
were also present: Rev J J Doherty, Rev Father Connelly and Rev M J Ahern. 
During the service Vincent Smith sang "Nearer My God to Thee." The interment 
was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers - M J Murphy, E C Cheshire, David 
Donovan, A J Smith, M J Madden, J Aubrey Butt, John F Lawler, Jr., and John A 
Baecher.
