Workmen on the pier first noticed the body in the water at 1:15 o'clock, and notified Dr. Colbert Tyler, coroner. Dr. Tyler went to the shipyard and examined the body, pronouncing death due to drowning. Mr. Gimbert drowned when he fell from a 35 foot cabin cruiser which was being operated by C.C. Cousins about half a mile south of Middle Ground Light. One of a party of four, the young man had separated himself from the rest of the group to attend to some duty on deck. His disappearance was not noticed immediately, and though the party cruised about the vicinity for some time, searching they were unable to locate him. The body was removed to the Caffee Funeral Parlors here, and Norfolk officials were notified. ****************** Funeral Tomorrow Robert McClannan Gimbert-Funeral services for Robert McClannan Gimbert, son of John H. and Mrs. Ruth McClannan Gimbert, who accidentally drowned in Hampton Roads Friday night, will be at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, Thirty- Fifth Street at Colonial Avenue, tomorrow at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Besides his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Miss Mary Alvine Gimbert; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Swain and Mrs. Joseph Fantone; four brothers, L.M., W.L., J.G. and R.W. Gimbert all of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and nephews.
