Mr. Gish was born in Norfolk. He had retired from Sheet Metal Workers' Local 100 after 30 years. He attended Westminister Presbyterian. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Gish; a daughter, Joan G. Wyrick of Norfolk; a son, James F. Gish Jr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary E. Donald of Chesapeake; and four grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Edwin Rayfield. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel.
