Godfrey, wife of the Rev. R. F. Godfrey, were held Sunday afternoon, October 3 at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. F. P. Wise officiating. Mrs. Godfrey died on September 24 at her home in St. Brides, Norfolk County, after an illness of 18 months. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Assisting Rev. Mr. Wise at the rites were the Rev. P. P. Eaton, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, and the Rev. H. T. Myers, pastor, Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Godfrey had been a member of the Mt. Lebanon Church for 15 yeas and at her death was a member of the choir and a former member of the usher board. A graduate of Roanoke Institute, Elizabeth City, NC, the deceased formerly taught at Belcross, NC, her native home. She was married to Rev. Mr. Godfrey in Elizabeth City on March 11, 1933. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Godfrey is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Thornton, Mrs. Sarah Dozier, and Mrs. Eddie Dozier, all of Norfolk; three brothers, Messrs. Wilson, Waddy and Johnny Dozier, of Norfolk; a mother, Mrs. Bessie Dozier, daughter, Mrs. Mary Eliza Williams; and four grandchildren.
