The Virginian Pilot Tuesday February 6, 1962
Mrs. Catherine Bell Godfrey, wife of Walter Thomas Godfrey Sr., of 
Lynnhaven, Princess Anne County, died Monday at 6:45 p.m. in a Virginia 
Beach hospital.
A native of Gates County, N.C., she lived here a number of years.
Besides her widower, surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George T. 
Drumwright and Mrs. Howard Holman of Norfolk, and Mrs. T. Lee Brown of 
Richmond; four sons, Burt K. Godfrey, Thomas W. Godfrey, Eugene Godfrey and 
Daniel R. Godfrey of Lynnhaven; six stepdaughters, Mrs. Grayson M. 
Whitehurst, Mrs. Linwood O. Branch and Mrs. Edward A. Leigh of Virginia 
Beach, Mrs. Thomas C. Reese, Miss Lois Godfrey and Mrs. Norman Cox of 
Norfolk; four stepsons, Walter Thomas Godfrey Jr. and Melvin Godfrey of 
Lynnhaven, Jack Godfrey of London Bridge and Marsden A. Godfrey of Norfolk; 
and a brother, Garland Bell.
A funeral service will be held in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk, 
Wednesday at 3 p.m. with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
