VIRGINIA BEACH — Arthur Clarke Godfrey, 83, of 3100 Shore Drive, a native of 
Portsmouth and the husband of Nellie G. Godfrey, died Sunday in Chesapeake.
He was a retired salesman and was a past president of Tidewater Food Dealers and 
Musicians Local 125, Norfolk. He was a member of Royster Memorial Presbyterian 
Church and a former member and deacon of The Christian Temple of Norfolk. He 
also was a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge 266, Khedive Temple of the Shrine 
and Norfolk Consistory of Scottish Rite Bodies.
Other survivors include two daughters, Bonna Fay Pritchard and Etholyn G. 
Downing, both of Norfolk; a sister, Annette G. Jackson of Fairfax; three 
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, 
by Dr. Lewis Galloway. Masonic rites will be accorded at graveside. The family, 
which will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. 
Tuesday, suggests that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to a 
favorite charity.
